Under Indonesia's juvenile justice system, children below the Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility (MACR) cannot be brought before a juvenile court for criminal proceedings. Currently, children below the age of 12 who are alleged to have committed an offence are handled through non-penal mechanisms and protective measures rather than criminal prosecution. The system provides measures such as returning the child to their parents or guardian, placing them under care, or providing education, training, and rehabilitation.
